Wes and I got away this past weekend. We left Friday September 12th and got back Sunday September 14th. We drove out to Grass Vally, CA to see my former roommate and one of my best friends, Penny. Penny got married and we went out for the reception. I hadn't seen her in 5 years so it was great to see her again. We stayed in Reno and drove in Saturday for the dinner. We had a great time visiting with Penny, her husband Chris, and meeting new people.
The drive out was fun for me since I don't remember the last time I drove out that way. We stopped and got pictures of Saltair and the Salt Flats. From Reno to Grass Valley the drive was incredible! The Sierra Nevada's are beautiful with their tall pines and greenery. What a contrast going from desert sagebrush to lush, beautiful green trees.

Katelynn and Elizabeth stayed with my sister, and they had a good time. Katelynn missed me a lot and kept asking for me, but she had her cousin's Ashley and Karrie to keep her occupied. I have to admit I cried when I left and was so excited to get back to them. Katelynn came running out to the car when we pulled up calling, "Mamy! Mamy!" She calls me Mamy which is a cross between Mommy and Amy. I love it!
As hard as it was for my to leave my girls, the break was good for me. Wes and I haven't gone away together alone since I was pregnant with Katelynn when we went to Charleston, SC. That was 3 1/2 years ago! We were due some time alone. It was a great weekend all the way around, except for leaving my girls.
