Elizabeth's Visit to the E.R.

On Tuesday August 11th we were in the backyard enjoying the nice evening. Wes decided to get our Tiki Torches out and try them since we hadn't used them yet. I went inside to find the oil for them. When I came back out, Elizabeth was screaming with her head pressed against Wes' chest. Wes told me to get a clean wet cloth. I thought she had fallen and her mouth was bleeding or something like that as I frantically got a cold compress ready. When I saw her I was confused and scared. She had a gash above her right eye. After we got her calmed down and stopped the bleeding Wes told me what happened. He was using his Leather man to cut the plastic off one of the Tiki Torches. Katelynn was playing and threw the dog bowl at him. He stabbed his left hand with the knife, then in reaction to that, threw the knife out of his hand. Elizabeth happened to be standing in the path of the knife and it grazed her right eyebrow. We ended up taking her to the Emergency Room even though we didn't think she needed stitches. They put Dermabond on her cut and it has healed very nicely. I took pictures at the hospital with my phone and was just now able to get them off. They put some antiseptic/numbing agent on her cut before they put the Dermabond on. Wes said he'd never been so scared in his life. He was pretty shaken up about it and of course Katelynn didn't help matters when she told me; "Daddy threw a knife at Elizabeth!" I'm very grateful it wasn't worse and I know she has some guardian angels looking out for her!

I'm glad she is okay and healing well. It must have been terrifying for Wes and for you when you came outside and saw her bleeding!

I love the picture in the ER. She is adorable!! In a year or two you won't even be able to tell it happened.
