I can't believe my baby is 4 years old! Katelynn turned 4 on August 25th. We had a family party for her on Sunday August 23rd. It was a lot of fun and Katelynn enjoyed her day. She begged for a Sleeping Beauty cake so we got her a princess cake with Sleeping Beauty on it along with Belle and Cinderella.
On Tuesday, her birthday, she and Elizabeth (18 months old now!) went in for their check-ups. Both are doing really well but they both had to get immunizations. Katelynn received her Kindergarten immunizations even though she doesn't start until next fall. It was easier since at her 5 year check-up she will already be in Kindergarten. The poor thing was miserable and she even came home and took a nap! When Wes got home we took her to Build-A-Bear so she could use the money my dad had given her for her birthday. My dad came along to see what she chose. After that we went to Chuck E. Cheeses for dinner. On the way home Katelynn asked to listen to "Chicken Fried" and "Where the Boat Leaves From" by the Zac Brown Band. She loves those songs and loves to sing along with them. I got great video of her singing.
When we got home, Katelynn was feeling the effects of the shots (she got five, two in the right leg, one in the left and one in each arm) and her Tylenol had worn off by that time. She was crying and saying how much it hurt. I gave her some more Tylenol and got her in bed. She opened her presents in bed and we brought what was left of her birthday cake in and sang Happy Birthday to her. She had a great birthday and celebrated in several fun ways. The hard part for me was on Sunday when she asked me if Mama could come to her birthday party. I started crying and explained to her again why my mother couldn't be there. I'm grateful for the love my mother has for her grandchildren and I'm especially grateful Katelynn has such a great love for my mother. I'm sure if the Lord allowed it, she was there to look down and celebrate Katelynn's special day with her.
