Happy Birthday!

I entered the world on May 13, 197something. I weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long. I was born the day before Mother's Day and my mother always told me I was her best Mother's Day present ever. My mother used to call me on my birthday and relate the events on the day I was born. I've missed receiving that phone call the last 2 birthdays and I know I always will.
For my birthday I made the dinner my mother used to make for me. I made Chicken, Cheese and Rice Casserole with Lime Bavarian Jello. I also made my mother's famous Brownie Sheet Cake. Wes came home with a cake he bought at Sam's Club so we had plenty of cake to eat! The girls gave me some perfume and lotion from Sephora. Wes gave me a chair I remember from my childhood. Actually my dad gave me the chair this fall when he was getting rid of things in preparation for his getting a new wife. The chair was falling apart and needed to be refinished. Wes put it back together and refinished it for me. It's a special chair because I received my Patriarchal Blessing from my maternal Grandfather in that chair. When Wes brought it out, it brought tears to me eyes.
I received phone calls from my sisters, my dad, my friend Alicia and my Aunt Breta. She sang "Happy Birthday" to me and related some memories she had of me when I was a newborn. The "Happy Birthday" song means a lot to me. My grandparents and then my mother used to sing it over the phone on our birthdays. It was very special to hear it from my Aunt and I'm grateful for her love and thoughtfulness. The day ended with the girls pounding the piano and making up songs about me and my birthday. It was very precious and another wonderful memory I have to put with the others.



On Friday May 14th was my niece Ashley's birthday. The family met at Outback Restaurant for her birthday dinner and cupcakes. Ashley turned 10 this year. I've always told her she is my best birthday present because she was born the day after my birthday. It was a fun to spend time with the family and my girls really enjoyed the cupcakes!
